Users

v1.0.15

Custom roles with grouped capabilities, per-role admin-menu access with drag-to-reorder, user management with bulk actions, and a login activity log — all from wp-admin, with administrators always exempt from lockout.

Included in every plan Updated August 2026

Overview

The Users module gives you real control over roles, capabilities, the admin menu each role sees, and your user list — without any code.

Users adds four tabs under WPStack → Users: Users, Roles, Menu Access and Activity Log. Together they let you decide who can do what, and what each role even sees in the dashboard.

  • Users — add, edit and search users, generate strong passwords, and change roles or delete in bulk
  • Roles — create, edit and delete roles with capabilities grouped by area (Posts, Pages, Media, Users, Plugins…)
  • Menu Access — show or hide admin-menu items per role and drag them into the order you want
  • Activity Log — a running log of logins and logouts, with each user’s last login shown
Admin-side onlyEverything Users does lives in wp-admin. It adds nothing to your front end.

Requirements

Users runs on any modern WordPress host — there is nothing to configure to get started.

RequirementMinimumRecommended
WordPress6.06.5 or newer
PHP7.48.1 or newer
Front endNoneAdmin-side only
Works with any themeUsers only touches wp-admin, so it is fully independent of your site theme.

Installation & activation

Users ships inside WPStack — switch it on per site from the modules panel.

1

Open the WPStack modules panel

In your WordPress admin, go to WPStack → Modules and find Users.

2

Activate Users

Flip the Users toggle on. A new Users item appears in the WPStack menu.

3

Set up roles & menus

Open WPStack → Users and work through the Users, Roles and Menu Access tabs.

Users

The Users tab is a faster way to manage everyone on the site — add, edit, search, filter and act in bulk.

The Users tab — a searchable, filterable user list with roles and last login.
  • Add a user with username, email, name, role and a one-click strong-password generator
  • Edit any user’s details, role and password from a modal
  • Search by name or email and filter by role
  • Select multiple users to change role or delete in bulk
  • See each user’s last login at a glance (from the activity log)

The Roles tab — built-in and custom roles with user counts and capability totals.

Capabilities are grouped by area so you are not hunting through a flat list. Tick a whole group with its All switch, or pick individual capabilities.

  • Create a new role with a display name and slug
  • Capability groups: Posts, Pages, Media, Taxonomy, Comments, Users, Plugins, Themes, Dashboard, Settings
  • Edit any role’s capabilities, including the built-in ones
  • Delete custom roles (built-in roles are protected)
  • See how many users and capabilities each role has
Built-in roles are protectedYou can edit the capabilities of built-in roles (Editor, Author…) but they can’t be deleted — only custom roles you create can be removed.

Activity log

A running log of sign-ins and sign-outs across all users.

The Activity Log — login and logout events with IP, browser and time.

Every login and logout is recorded with the user and a timestamp. The most recent login for each user is surfaced in the Users tab as their last login.

  • Logs login and logout events per user
  • Surfaces each user’s last login in the Users list
  • Stored in its own table — nothing added to your front end

FAQ

Yes — the Menu Access tab hides or shows any admin-menu item per role and lets you drag them into order. Each role saves its own layout.
